The book contains poems predominantly about the experiences and legacy of the forced incarceration of 120,000 Japanese and Japanese Americans in American concentration camps during WWII. Matsuda was born in one such camp and all of his relatives were incarceration based on their race except for those who remained at the family home in Hiroshima, Japan. They were atom bombed. Paperback.
