Honor Roll Replica

On October 14, 1943, the Honor Roll was dedicated to those who enlisted or were drafted in the U.S. military. Almost 1,000 Nisei served from Minidoka. The original Honor Roll stood in front of a rock garden designed by Fujitaro Kubota. Initially, the Honor Roll included the center panel and the side panels were added as the number serving grew.

In 2011, Friends of Minidoka rebuilt the Honor Roll and is in the process of updating the panels. The reconstructed Honor Roll has been a centerpiece of Minidoka National Historic Site and continues to be an emotional symbol of incarcerees loyalty and desire to serve their country despite the violation of civil liberties they and their families suffered. The Minidoka Pilgrimage Planning Committee organizes a pilgrimage of survivors and their descendants to Minidoka to commemorate, reflect, and heal, and the Honor Roll is a vital component for families at this event.
