Protect the public lands surrounding Minidoka National Historic Site.

U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah proposed selling millions of acres (8,300 square kilometers) of public lands in the West for use as housing for infrastructure in the budget reconciliation process.

Minidoka National Historic Site is surrounded by public land managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Selling of this public land would threaten Minidoka's solemn and reflective cultural landscape with potential development.

Yesterday, June 24, 2025, the Senate parliamentarian determined Lee's proposal would violate the chambers rules.  However, even thought the initial land sale provision was removed form the budget bill, Senator Lee is putting a new proposal on the table.

Friends of Minidoka is monitoring the situation and will provide updates on any action needed.
